<content>Links I've found interesting for the week of 08/07/2006:

* DHH gives a big "happy birthday":http://www.loudthinking.com/arc/000594.html to Rails as it begins year three. I'm excited to see to what amazing things are done with this framework in the year to come.

* Apple previews "Leopard, OS X 10.5":http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/. While I don't think it is as exciting as Tiger was, I'm hoping they further manage to optimize the Intel build since the transition to x86 chips is complete.

* Ruby on Rails will "ship with Leopard Server":http://weblog.rubyonrails.com/2006/8/7/ruby-on-rails-will-ship-with-os-x-10-5-leopard when it is released in Spring 2007. Think that has something to do with the love OS X has been getting from Rails developers?

* Copyblogger on why "content is a dirty word":http://www.copyblogger.com/why-content-has-become-a-dirty-word/. I completely agree that ad-sense blogs are a temporary thing. Write good content and the visitors will come. (I get a ton of google traffic from my Rails how to articles.)

* It's been a busy news week for Rails. Rails 1.1.5 "released":http://weblog.rubyonrails.org/2006/8/9/rails-1-1-5-mandatory-security-patch-and-other-tidbits as a result of a need to patch a serious security hole. Looks like it has to do with an attacker being able to upload code possibly and execute it by calling a certain route. I'm staying out of the full disclosure / non-disclosure debate. (Update: Rails 1.1.6 is out as the super final awesome "really, it's secure." patch.)

* Bruce Schneier covers the "new security measures":http://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/2006/08/new_airline_sec.html in the aftermath of the UK/US airline terrorist plan. Given that I need to fly at the end of the month I may just show up to the security checkpoint in nothing more than boxers and just fedex my luggage.
